A historic British name, a Formula 1 World Champion and a new generation of coachbuilt performance cars. Radford is building something that goes far beyond the car itself.
For drivers who value rarity, craftsmanship and the experience surrounding ownership as much as outright performance, Radford Motor Company is a name worth knowing.
Founded in London in 1948, Radford built its reputation transforming already exceptional cars into something more individual. Its history includes the Mini de Ville, work on the early Ford GT40 prototypes and the celebrated Aston Martin DB5 Shooting Brake.
Today, that philosophy has been revived for a new era.
The Type 62-2
At the centre of modern Radford is the Type 62-2, a lightweight, analogue supercar inspired by the 1969 Lotus Type 62 race car.
Rather than chasing performance figures alone, Radford's approach focuses on lightness, balance and connection between driver, machine and road, with Formula 1 World Champion Jenson Button helping shape the marque's performance philosophy.
The Type 62-2 collection spans four distinct interpretations. The road-focused Grand Tourer pairs a lightweight aluminium chassis with a 500 hp supercharged V6, while the Sport moves to a carbon chassis and 600 hp.
The Track Edition raises output to 700 hp with increased aerodynamics and adjustable suspension, while the open-top Barchetta offers perhaps the purest expression of the concept.
No two Radfords alike
Radford is approaching the car as a commission rather than simply a specification.
Exterior form, paint, liveries, materials and individual details can be developed with each client, creating cars intended to reflect their owners rather than a conventional options list.
That philosophy extends into Radford's restomod programme, where existing cars and chassis can be reconsidered with new coachwork, engineering and completely bespoke interiors while retaining the character that made the original significant.
Proven at Pikes Peak
There is serious engineering behind the craftsmanship.
Radford's 710 hp, 861 kg Type 62-2 Pikes Peak Edition recorded a 9:37.326 run at the famous Colorado hill climb, becoming the first Exhibition Class car to break the ten-minute barrier.
Future HALO projects are intended to continue pushing the boundaries of the brand, alongside a Jenson Button-led racing programme.
More than ownership
Perhaps the most interesting part of Radford's vision for Arvelo members is what happens beyond the handover.
Private design sessions, workshop access and direct contact with the team form part of the commissioning journey. Selected handovers can culminate on circuit, with the opportunity to experience the car alongside Jenson Button.
Beyond that, Radford is developing a community around curated gatherings, destination drives, motorsport access and owner-only experiences.
It is a philosophy that feels particularly relevant at a time when the most interesting automotive brands are increasingly looking beyond simply selling cars.
The road, the destination, the people you meet and the experiences that ownership unlocks can matter just as much as what sits in the garage.
A British name entering its next chapter
Radford's ambition is clear: take the traditions of British coachbuilding and reinterpret them for a generation of owners looking for something genuinely individual.
The Type 62-2 is only the beginning, with further HALO creations, supercars, collaborations and bespoke projects forming part of the marque's plans.
For Arvelo members with an appreciation for rare cars and memorable journeys, Radford is one to watch.
The Arvelo view
Radford fits naturally into the world Arvelo is building.
The car itself matters, but so does everything around it — the roads you choose, the destinations you travel to, the people you meet and the experiences that come with ownership.
Brands that combine craftsmanship, performance and genuinely memorable experiences are exactly the kind of stories we want Arvelo members to discover.
